Florian will be exploring the history behind del Gesù, the three main working styles of f-hole and scroll design, and body construction. He will focus as well on his upcoming publication where he delves into this same topic in great detail. Once concluded, he will open up the floor to a Q&A with the attendees to answer any of their questions about the publication, presentation or generally about the instruments of Guarneri.
Florian Leonhard MBE has forged a distinguished career in violin making, restoration, and expertise. Following his training at Mittenwald, he honed his skills at W.E. Hill and Sons, where he ascended to the role of Head Restorer. Subsequently he established Florian Leonhard Fine Violins, with ateliers situated across Europe, America and Asia.
Recognised as a leading expert in the appraisal and study of Italian stringed instrument masterpieces, Florian has authored significant works on Italian instrument-making, including "The Makers of Central Italy" and "The Makers of Tuscany," and has contributed to publications such as The Strad and Archi. He is currently working on two highly-anticipated publications surrounding the instruments of Guarneri del Gesù and the Bisiach family.
